How to make DAP 18 46 0 gariculture fertilizer at home

Fertilizers are very much essential for plants. There are basically two types of fertilizers (1) Organic fertilizers (2) Inorganic fertilizers. The use of organic fertilizers is happening since the beginning of human civilization. According to the History of Indus civilization organic fertilizers like cow manure was used. With the changing time and invention of modern agricultural technology; new chemical fertilizers are getting invented. Some of the chemical fertilizers are DAP(Diammonium phosphate), NPK, Gromor etc. these are mostly the Compound fertilizers.

In this article I shall talk about making DAP fertilizers at home with the use of simple chemical fertilizers like Urea and SSP which you can find in your nearest fertilizers shop.

Required Ingredients:

For the preparation of DAP you just need three simple ingredients which you can find in your nearest local agriculture related fertilizer shop easily. These ingredients are-

1. Urea

2. Single super phosphate (SSP)

Percentage of N (Nitrogen) P(Phosphate in fertilizers available in market:

Percentage (%) of nitrogen in 1kg (1000gm) Urea is = 460gm nitrogen

 Percentage (%) of phosphate in 1kg (1000gm) Single super phosphate (SSP) is = 160gm phosphate

Generally 1kg DAP 18-46-0 contains 180gm Nitrogen, 460gm Phosphate

To make 1 kg DAP 18-46-0 at home we need the following calculations are needed

Calculation of required Urea for 180gm nitrogen:

460gm Nitrogen (N) from 1000gm Urea

1               “                  “           (1000/460)

180          “                   “          [(1000/460)*180] =391.3gm Urea

 

Calculation of required Phosphate for 260gm SSP:

160gm Phosphate (P) from 1000gm SSP

1               “                  “           (1000/160)

460          “                   “          [(1000/160)*260] = 2875gm SSP

To prepare 1kg DAP18-46-0 at home we require

391.3gm Urea + 2.875kg SSP

 

To prepare 2kg DAP18-46-0 at home we require

2*(391.3gm Urea + 2.875kg SSP)

=782.6gm Urea + 5.75kg SSP

 

To prepare 3kg DAP18-46-0 at home we require

3*(391.3gm Urea + 2.875kg SSP)

=1.173kg Urea + 8.625kg SSP

 

To prepare 4kg DAP18-46-0 at home we require

4*(391.3gm Urea + 2.875kg SSP)

=1.565kg Urea + 11.5kg SSP

By applying this measurement you can make any amount of DAP as per your requirement.
