We all know that the volume of every solid material is
contract and expand with the effect of temperature. The contraction and
expansion of metal is much higher compared to wood. With the temperature increase
the length of the metal scale increases and with low temperature the length of
the metal scale is reduced. So if someone measures length of something with a
metal scale then there may exist error in the length reading.
