Percentage of N (Nitrogen) P(Phosphate) K(Potash) in fertilizers available in market:

Percentage (%) of nitrogen in 1kg (1000gm) Urea is = 460gm nitrogen

Percentage (%) of phosphate in 1kg (1000gm) Single super phosphate (SSP) is = 160gm phosphate

Percentage (%) of potash in 1kg (1000gm) Sulphate of potash (SOP) is = 500gm potash

To make 1 kg NPK 10-26-26 at home we need the following calculations are needed

Calculation of required Urea for 100gm nitrogen:

460gm nitrogen (N) from 1000gm Urea

1                                            (1000/460)

100                                       [(1000/460)*100] = 217.39gm Urea

Calculation of required Phosphate for 260gm SSP:

160gm nitrogen (N) from 1000gm SSP

1                                            (1000/160)

260                                       [(1000/160)*260] = 1625gm SSP

Calculation of required Urea for 100gm nitrogen:

500gm potash (K) from 1000gm SOP

1                                            (1000/500)

260                                       [(1000/500)*260] = 460gm SOP

To prepare 1kg NPK 10-26-26 at home we require -

217.39gm Urea + 1.625kg SSP + 460gm SOP
